Little Pink Studio

Lounging...

That is mostly what we have been doing this week. Lounging around. It's been such a relaxing time, which was so needed after the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. (and yes, Curtis is holding a remote control, and he was oh so patient as we took photos, but he really does snuggle under the blankets just like we do) :)

We've watched countless dvd's, some of the family also went to see Avatar, (which they said was amazing, but I'm not usually a 3D fan). These two were among my favorites of the dvd's watched this week, such cute movies.

There's also been lots of reading and game playing going on. (of course all in front of a roaring fire)

We have ventured out of the house for a few things like going to see Jeff Dunham the hilarious comedian and ventriloquist. (I laughed until my cheeks and sides ached)

And just yesterday and I spent an entire day antiquing with my Mom, I didn't even get home until 9pm last night! I found some great treasures that I will show you as soon as we have some sunshine to take photos.

Christmas in the studio...

I underestimated the amount of wrapping I still had to do, so I didn't get a chance to blog again like I wanted before Christmas but I still wanted to show you some little snippets of the studio decorated for Christmas.I love to fill the studio with all of my pastel and shabby things that I collect and love but don't really fit into the decor of the rest of the house. I put up a small white tree and decorate it with both vintage ornaments I have collected and ornaments from friends. There are lots of photos to share, so I won't chatter on too much. :)

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! We had a great day with family, and I hope you did too.

Today we all stayed in our pj's, have a fire roaring in the fireplace, eating fabulous leftovers,  and everyone is either watching movies or playing games. The PERFECT day after Christmas.

It's almost here!

Happy Christmas Eve! I can hardly believe Christmas is tomorrow! I kept the decorations in the living room fairly simple and neutral this year, and I'm happy with that. I filled my apothecary jars with vintage ornaments and white pine cones I found at Pottery Barn last year.

And I put out just a few of my favorite things.

 


Maybe not the colors you expect to come from me? LOL That's ok, tomorrow I will wish you a Merry Christmas from the studio where you will see more of what you might expect.

A special gift for Mom...

I can hardly believe Christmas will be here in just a few short days! It REALLY snuck up on me this year, and I still have much to do, but I'm trying to enjoy it all. December is also always filled with birthdays for us. My sweet girl turned 18 (!), and both my Mom and Mother-in-law also had birthdays this month!

One of the gifts I put together for my Mom was a 12 days of Christmas countdown in a box. Totally inspired by this one. Instead of the glassine envelopes like Pam used, I used the bags you see in the previous post. (and  couple of other containers) I filled the bags with little trinkets and gave this to Mom to open one a day until Christmas.

I packaged all of the bags into a vintage pink satin box and topped it off with some silk ribbon and one of my embellished reindeer.

Here are a few of the things that were in the bags. This is a tiny rubber stamp set to make some nativity Christmas tags. You can't tell in the photo, but the tag and bag both have a dusting of glitter all of them.

Sweet paper roses.

Little paper embellishments.

You get the idea, just little crafting trinkets...She loved this gift and it was super easy and inexpensive to do.

By the way, the first photo in this pots was a quick shot of our living room tree. I'm working on decorating my studio today...WAAAY behind schedule, and I probably should just say forget it this year since Christmas is around the corner, but I'm determined to make it a little festive in there. :) I'll just leave it up for a while so as to enjoy it longer.

Simple and pretty gift bags and tags

Still carving out a few moments to create Christmas things in my studio whenever I have had a moment, I created these lovely little gift bags. I love how they have turned out and the best part, is how fast and easy they are to create.

I simply gathered together some muslin bags and envelopes, a few of my favorite rubber stamps, iridescent gold Glimmer Mist, and Platinum Stickles. I stamped the images on the bags with Staz On ink, which dries quickly, and then sprayed them with the Glimmer Mist.

Once they were dry, I then embellished with the Stickles glitter glue. A few of them I added a slight touch of color with a chalk pencil. That's it! Easy peasy, and pretty!

This bag is one of my favorites and it was inspired by a card included in an order I received from sweet Madai. (I will have to show you that magical little order later I haven't taken photos yet!) The sweet silhouette stamp of the little girl looking up just needed that magical little touch of glitter stars for her to be looking at, right? 

I made this one using the child's silhouette cube stamp, which I think is one of my all time favorite stamps. The images are just so sweet! I embellished it a little further with a tiny velvet posie and a vintage rhinestone button. I don't know if you can really tell the subtle glitter sheen all of these bags have from spraying them with the Glimmer Mist, but in person it just makes them a little magical. I think if you click on the images to make them larger you can see it better.

I also love how these two bags turned out. I embellished them a little further by spraying some white satin wings with various shades of Glimmer Mist and then adding a vintage cameo or image.

See this sweet little girl? She is a vintage rubber stamp I found at the Nashville flea market in October. I LOVE her. The bags are perfect for small gifts, or gift cards! I used them to make a special gift for my Mom's birthday..more on that later. You can also do the same thing on paper or glassine envelopes and bags you may have in your stash.

These envelopes are vintage, but you could use any coin envelope or paper envelope you have in your studios. You already know I'm a sucker for pretty packaging, but I think it makes a simple gift that much lovelier to present it in a special way.

I've also been making easy tags! I just took an antique playing card, added a printed image and embellished with Stickles. Once I punch a hole and add some silk ribbon these tags will be perfect, and they only took about 15 minutes to make! (by the way, this gorgeous image came from Paper Whimsy, they have some beautiful images to download!)

I can hardly believe that Christmas is next week already! This year has just flown by, but I had a feeling it would since it is my daughter's senior year of high school.

On a side note, I'll be closing up shop in the next day or so, I'm ready to spend some time with my family, and enjoy the rest of the holiday season. I'll still be blogging though as I have lots more to show you! I just love this time of year!

Embellished Reindeer

I have felt very inspired this season, and so whenever I have just a few minutes to spare I have been making things, glittering things, or embellishing things. I just haven't had a lot of time to show you. I found these beautiful white glittered reindeer at Target and knew I had to have them even though I didn't have any idea what I was going to do with them.

So the other day I took out some of my smaller vintage millinery and embellished them. I added vintage velvet leaves and berries in two shades and some gorgeouss silk ribbon. You know, as I was doing this I realized I don't have enough small vintage flowers. I need to start looking for more of those.

Anyway, so these lovely reindeer became even better with some of my favorite vintage things. This one I made especially for my Gram as these are her favorite colors. I think I will just add it to the top of one of her packages for Christmas and then she can hang it on her tree if she wants to.

I think they're great for putting on packages or hanging from your tree, but I may also use them as napkin rings for my holiday table, or maybe I will just string them together and make a banner out of them, or maybe I will just place them in some of my Christmas vignettes around the house.:)

Popping in with a few projects....

Hello everyone! I'm just popping in to show you what I have been up to. First, today on Joli Paquet I did a tutorial for this little wall hanging or ornament using an antique photo mat and lots of fun things.

I hope you will stop by and do some crafting with me! And if you're interested, I was able to put together a hand full of kits for this project as well. It was a lot of fun to put together.

I've been telling you that I have been playing around with the angel and cherub embellishments and wanted to show you a few things I have come up with. 

First, I just added glitter to the wings and I think they are ok like that especially if you are wanting an all white look. I would like to try staining them a bit though and then adding glitter, just so they are not quite so bright white. For the pink angel I did one coat of craft paint in a bubblegum pink and then I added a second layer of latex (house paint) in a pale taupe-ish pink.

I was pretty happy with how that turned out.

The next one I added some fairy dust glitter and then used some glimmer mist over that. (which gave it a little bit of an aged look. I decided to turn this one into an ornament by making a pinwheel out of vintage sheet music and gluing it all to a bottle brush ornament I had from a couple of years ago. Finished if off by adding some pink pearl beads.

The next one is my favorite I think. I started with some aqua colored paint, added some white crackle paint over the top, and once that dried I added some iridescent gold Glimmer Mist which shows up nicely in the cracks.

I made a simple and pretty tea stained tag just by adding my angel, and topping it off with some pretty silk ribbon.

I've also been making some presents and simple but pretty gift bags that I can't wait to show you as well. I'll be back soon with those.

If you're in the mood to do some shopping...

If you're like me, then you're always in the mood to shop! :) First, let me tell you that all of the kit previews are up for Joli Paquet. There are some really adorable kits, and they all go on sale Thursday.

This is my kit, a Winter Wonderland Nest. The sweet glittered dove is nestled into a shiny and glittery nest inside a vintage, pink"hobnail" vase.  She can hang from your tree or stand alone, whichever you prefer.

A couple of things...your dove will arrive w/out the silver glitter on her beak, and if I was doing it over, I'm not sure if I would add that. Also, your kit will arrive with a few different Christmas themed sentiments, so you can choose what her banner says. And speaking of the banner, my ink ran a little when I applied the wet stickles glitter..Your won't do that. :)

Here's kind of a side view of her nest. This is any easy kit that you can work on in just an afternoon or in little sections of time as you have the time!

Now, if you're in the mood for some darling hand painted ornaments or a hand painted notebook to keep track of your Christmas lists in, then I have just the shop to tell you about!

I always keep a small notebook in my purse during this time of year to keep track of my Christmas lists and what I'm spending on each child. (yes, I'm one of those Mom's that likes to match to w/in a dollar) So I already scooped up a darling notebook for myself. But these two are still available as well as more handpainted ornaments too! (including the cutest, fattest Santa you've ever seen) You can find them all in this darling etsy shop. Now, I might be a little biased because this talented girl is my daughter, but I'm in love with all of her cute designs. (and of course, I'm quite the proud Momma too...)

You might have thought that I was finished loading new things to my shop too, right? Nope. I keep having ideas of things I want to add, and some of it has been here for months just waiting to be photographed...but I just keep adding things!

Like these pink bottle brush trees, they have been here since JUNE! I just tucked them away in a drawer and forgot all about them. Thankfully, I remembered them before next June. 

Then I found this wonderful assortment of vintage pink satin ornaments, and there were so many of them I knew I had to share. They're in perfect condition, and wouldn't they look lovely hanging from your tree with your other vintage ornaments, or even just sitting in a pretty milk glass bowl for a lovely grouping?

I created some more Holly Jolly Santa pins,and embellished their little bags too. Love how they turned out!

And since you were loving the cute packaging I had added, I went ahead and added some more!

There's pretty blue boxes, more flocked polka dotted bags, pink bubblegum containers that are perfect for stocking stuffers or advent treats, and the cutest whimsical ornament cello bags!

Honestly, I have a few more ideas too, so I may still add even more things to the shop, but as I do every year I will be closing up shop on the 15th so that I can enjoy time with my family for the holidays, so obviously I am going to run out of time to add much more! LOL

Happy Thanksgiving!

I actually feel thankful most everyday  for so many things including my family, the fact that I have been able to realize one of my dreams as a shop owner, that my teenage girls are GOOD girls and have not given us any reason to worry, that I have my Mom and my Grandma to hang out with on a regular basis, and for good friends. I'm also thankful that I have a wonderful husband that loves and supports me each and every day and puts up with all my craziness.

But  I wanted to take just a moment and tell you that I'm thankful for YOU. I'm thankful that you read my blog, and leave such sweet comments. I'm thankful that you send me sweet emails and are always so encouraging and inspiring! I'm thankful for your support of my shop  with your orders and even just your words of encouragement.
