We're still working on things here, but I thought I would show you a few more photos of some recent finds. In early June we took a long weekend and went to visit Washington DC. Along the way we stopped at a few antique shops and it turned out that I found quite a bit of millinery on this trip! Yeah! It's not always the easiest thing to find around here, so I'm always happy when I do find it. The basket in this photo is actually a vintage doll layette! The inside is lined with a wonderful pinky-taupe colored silk, and the bottom has a little stuffed pad also in the same silk. So sweet. I found this in Roanoke, VA. Whenever we travel through VA I always try to stop at the Roanoke Antique Mall. It is a large antique mall with some really lovely booths and I always find things I have to have there!
This is a lovely hat I bought just for the roses and all of the white flowers are part of some kind of bridal head piece I'm sure. The roses will need a little steaming and then they will come back to life beautifully. The bridal headpiece is FULL of tiny white flowers.
This is a close up shot of another hat I found and will use only for the flowers. Lovely velvet, silk, and organza blooms cover this hat in the sweetest shade of faded lavender. I am not always a fan of lavender even though it was my favorite color when I was growing up, but this faded lavender color is one I just love.
The salmon pink flower is a vintage brooch I was lucky to find and the sheer pink underneath it is some kind of gauzy scarf with all of those little blooms attached. I've never really seen a scarf like this before, and I loved it right away, and for only $3, I think it was quite a bargain too!
All of these flowers (and more) came off of one ugly hat. My husband actually spotted this one for me and was so proud to find me a hat with lots of pretty flowers on it. What was especially great about this hat was that it had so many different kinds of flowers on it and each bloom came off like a tiny corsage.
Love all of the pretty stamens that came off of this hat as well, and the centers of the flowers are velvet. Gotta love that.
Here they are all piled into that vintage basket, and you can see of glimpse of the silk lining here too.
One last hat was a recent find at my friend Kim's wonderful local shop, Cave Creek Antiques in Sweetwater, TN. This hat is really too pretty to to take apart.
But those flowers really are lovely, aren't they? It's so funny how so many of us adore vintage millinery, and you never really can have too much of it, can you?
Cerri xoxo

Hello! great finds! I guess I never knew that the millinery flowers could be steamed to be refreshed. Of course it makes sense .... I just never thought about it! What is the best way to do this? Hints?
Thanks!
Betty :)

Hi Cerri, I think those flowers are just gorgeous and how I wish I could find something like that here in Calif. So far I haven't had that much luck . Although I have found some pretty hats, nothing like that. Want to sell or trade some? Hey it doesn't hurt to ask right :) As always, I love visiting just to see what new beautiful things you have. I hope you get a chance to visit my new blog one day :) Rose

Love all the vintage millinery! I am always a sucker for a gorgeous hat with flowers. My aunt recently gave me a vintage hat with flowers and it was almost too darling to take the flowers off of..but somehow I managed to get them off....ha!

Cerri,
I just had a wonderful find today. A shop going out of business had all thier Charles Lubin flowers for $1 a stem. I bought all of it. I am posting about it on Monday. Also I just wanted to let you know I made a wedding topper using your Marie Antoinette silhouette. It is up on my blog and I gave your site a mention and link. I will have to buy another to make more. Have a wonderful time off, I am really enjoying your blog.
