Pretty new books in the house!

The rain and my daughter having walking pneumonia kept us from the lake this weekend, but I did get to settle in with some wonderful new books that arrived in the mail just before the start of the weekend.

First I was thrilled to receive Rachel Ashwell's new book! I have been a fan for as long as I can remember, and like the rest of the world was saddened to see her stores close. Her books have always been among my favorites and this one is no exception! It's beautiful, cover to cover. It's larger than all of her other books have been, more of a coffee table book, so the photos are nice and big! She is such an inspiration! I normally order books from Amazon, but they kept saying that this book would ship in 1-3 months, so I ordered from Barnes and Noble and had it in 3 days with free shipping!

Note:! When I just looked to her blog to create a link for you I noticed that she has indeed reopened one of her shops!! Yeah! That's such wonderful news, it's always good to know someone will make it in this economy after all!

Obviously I had sewing on my mind whenI ordered these other 3 books (from Amazon).  I've only just begun to read through these, but they are all beautiful with very doable projects. All of these should keep me busy for a little while. :)

I've almost finished up my baby related projects with just a few details to finish up and photos to take. (It would help if it would stop raining)  I hope to have those ready to add to the shop and to show you very soon. For now, here's another little peek.

Baby Bits! I've been selling my Bubblegum Art Bits for about 3 years now, and I thought it would be fun to offer some baby themed Art Bits! Right now, I just have the girly themed ones ready, but I will be adding boyish ones soon. I'll be updating the shop with all of the baby themed items all at once, and hopefully very soon!

Joli Paquet kicks off and other crafty news

Hello friends! I know I haven't been blogging a lot lately, but I have been working on things behind the scenes. Plus, my daughter has walking pneumonia and has needed lots of Mommy love.

We kicked off the Halloween Joli Paquet today with sign ups for a fun swap! You can read more about it and sign up on the Joli Paquet blog , but in a nutshell it's a Trick or Treat swap. Everyone will be creating an adult themed trick or treat tote bag and then filling it with treats for their partner. Sounds fun, right? I already have lots of ideas for creating my tote and things to put in it. Can't wait to get started!

As always we will be offering inspiring and free tutorials leading up to Halloween, as well as exclusive kits. Tutorials will be posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays so you will want to check back often. (and tell your friends!) I know a few of the things you will be seeing and believe me, you won't want to miss a minute of the fun!

In shop news, I have been working on many new things for the shop. I have lots of products waiting to be photographed, lots of things in progress and a few things I have already listed. I can't wait to show you what I've been making, but for now I thought I would tell you about the things I have just listed.

Pink mica flakes! I ordered these clear back in Feb. when they were first released at CHA, hoping to have them in the shop in time for Easter and spring related crafts, only to find out that they were backordered until June! So they finally came in this summer and I thought I would just hold off until closer to Christmas to list them, but I decided to go ahead and get them in the shop now. I think you'll love them for embellishing all of your paper crafting projects!

Gorgeous crepe paper made the old fashioned way. This crepe paper is much thicker and has a better texture than any other crepe paper you can buy today. Trust me, you're going to love working with this stuff!

I plan on adding more items over the next few days, and just to give you a little peek into what has been my current obsession...

Baby things galore! I could add a whole new section to the shop I have so many new baby themed items to show you! I'll be back with that early next week.

The view from the lake

This was our view from the lake as we were packing up to go home yesterday. So beautiful after a crazy storm that popped up out of nowhere and sent boaters and campers scurrying for cover. What you don't see here is the tons of boats, jetskis, and tubes that were having fun in this water all weekend long. Such a happy place.

Here's another view of the lake a little earlier in the weekend. Mom and I spent some time plucking apart old hats for some great flowers.

I already have a plan in the works using these black and white spotted petals..

And while I did not get to take as many photos of other pretty camping things this weekend, I did want to point out the tablecloth you see here under the flowers. I'm always searching for pretty outdoor tablecloths as well as pretty indoor ones, and whenever I find them I scoop them up. However, I haven't really loved what has been available this year, so I was very happy when I found this store online. You can purchase modern oilcloth (which is a little different than vintage oilcloth) and vinyl fabric by the yard! Perfect for making your own outdoor tablecloths! Love it. I purchased the pale pink polkadot print as well as one of the designs that look like the vintage tablecloths we all love. They arrive more muted and pretty than the photos show, and all you need to do is trim your fabric with some pinking shears and you have ready made tablecloths to match any outdoor decor or event. The clean up like a dream!  The average picnic table requires approximately 2 yards of fabric.

And while I didn't get to all of the projects I took with me to work on, we had a fun and restful weekend. Here's a photo of my Mom being silly with a vintage lace table cloth we were sharing. (she'll probably kill me for this...lol)

A whole lot of projects going on...

While I don't have any finished projects to tell you about, I can show you some peeks of things in the works as I have a whole bunch of things either half finished, almost finished, and some still being planned out.
