The kits..

Hello! I hope you had a lovely weekend. As promised, I wanted to share with you a few peeks at the Spring Beauties kits. This kit has more elements to it than any other kit I have ever put together. They're all finished now, after a slight delay while waiting on one last element to arrive, and are shipping out! 

A while ago I found these great paper pocket portfolios that were a cast off from some business, and I scooped a bunch up thinking they would be great to hold some kits. So, I covered up the business info with some pretty wallpaper and a sweet little label. (the label image is courtesy of The Graphics Fairy I altered it and added the script) Inside is all of the materials needed (and so much more!) to put together their journals. 

Here's a few of the pretty stacks of materials as I was putting together the kits. 

I used half a package of cardstock printing the images! (and of course there is also vintage ephemera in the kits as well)

These photos don't even show the vintage millinery pieces, lace embellishments, and all of the vintage wallpaper that went into them! 

After I filled all of the orders, I had enough materials to put one last kit together and it's available here. 

Thanks to all of those that purchased this kit. You know, it's hard putting yourself out there sometimes..When I add regular retail items to the shop, sometimes they don't do that well and I just have to learn from that. But when you add something that you design, i'ts so personal. You have to hope that other people will like it enough to want to make one of their own and to actually purchase a kit. So, it always means so much when you do like it, and you want to make one too, and I thank you for that. 

Years ago, when I first started making kits, one of my customers said to me that she loved that I put the kits together because she works full time, is a full time Mom, and simply doesn't have the time to source all of the materials herself. She said she loved that everything was right there for her, and it made being creative easier for her. I loved that, and have always tried to keep that in mind as I put together my kits. 

While I've been working on these kits, I have had a lot of ideas and am really going to concentrate on offering more and more kits in my shop. Both inspiration kits as well as project based kits like this one. I'm also thinking of adding some of my projects to the shop as a tutorial. (for those of you that already have more materials than you could ever want need! lol) Even some of my older projects..I may revisit those and add the tutorials to the shop. Is that something you would be interested in from me? I'd love to know if you do. 

Anyway, I've rambled and I have a million things that I should be working on. :)

A flea market weekend

Hello, friends. We are headed to the Nashville flea market this weekend and to spend the day with our daughter that is desperately needing a break from finals. In case you're not headed to a flea market or estate sale this weekend, I thought I would have a little flea market in the shop. Still sorting through and parting with some of my vintage treasures, I've listed a few more  items in the shop tonight. Maybe you will find a treasure of your own?

Wish me luck finding more treasures at the flea! I'm actually on a mission this time to find a few things for some very fun projects I have planned for the shop soon. :) I'll share what I find.

Before it is May...

Hello! Every year my Mom and I always put together little Easter baskets for each other filled with the things we love, and I thought I should share that with you before April is over. :) This is what I put together for Mom this year. 

I found this gorgeous light blue pot at Home Goods and that is what I used for her "basket". Of course...not everything would fit inside. 

Here's a close up of those things that wouldn't fit inside. The antique bone dish I found at a wonderful little antique shop in Franklin, TN. And the petite container with the chicken on it? How sweet it is that? I collect things with chicks on them for her as she lives on a farm and has LOTS of chickens. The lipstick is one of my favorite lipsticks, they're the Revlon lip butters. LOVE them. I think she might like this shade. 

And here is a couple close ups of the goodies inside.

Lots of fun stuff for her to play with..including of course, vintage fabric, vintage lace, some embroidered bits, the sweetest vintage wallpaper trim, and lots more. I packed it pretty full!

An extension and a tiny bit of studio progress

Hello! I hope your weekend was lovely. First up, I had several requests for an extension on the date to purchase the Spring Beauties kit, and you know I wasn't really thinking that through very well when I listed the date. First, I totally forgot last week was tax week, and I only offered it up for a few days. Not the smartest decisions on my part all the way around, but most importantly, I want everyone that wants a kit to be able to purchase one. So, I extended the sale date on the kit through Sunday, April 30th. If you're still wanting one, then you have time! Get them here. To see more photos and details, check out the previous post. For those that have already ordered, thank you. I will still begin shipping those kits later this week, no worries. 

Next up, I thought I would share a tiny bit of progress on the studio. Are you getting tired of reading about this move, yet? Sheesh. It really is taking me forever, but between working, weekends at the lake, my daughter's senior prom, and getting her ready to graduate, I work on this in my spare time. Eventually it will get finished. My goal is to have it totally finished by Mother's day so that I can host a little luncheon for the gals in my family. Cross your fingers for me, ok? Mother's day is just 4 days before graduation. 

So above, is a wonderful little 1930's armoire my husband bought me, and on it is a favorite old parasol and part of my millinery collection. Yes, I said part. Remember my lace dilemma? Millinery is almost as bad. And of course, you might notice there is also a (rather large) jar of vintage lace scraps on there as well. Really, is there any hope for me? 

This frothy little thing is a vintage bed jacket. Why don't we use bed jackets anymore? I am thinking my husband might prefer those to my standard tshirts and pajama bottoms. Ha. 

And then there is this lovely. It occurred to me that I had not properly introduced you to her yet. She was a Christmas present from my husband. (I knew about that one in advance...I found her in an antique shop outside of Atlanta and asked begged for her.) Happily, he is a good husband and obliged. She is my 3rd mannequin. I would show you all of her glory, but unfortunately she has a mess at her feet at the moment. She is different than most I have found, she's actually quite petite. I am thinking she was probably for a young adult? I don't really know how old she is either, the gal that worked in the shop said she thought her to be from the 1920's. She was already stenciled when we bought her as well. She is made of an odd paper like material. I don't know..I just know I loved her instantly and am thrilled to have her. 

So, that's it for today, I'm a busy bee assembling journal kits. I'll be back soon.

Spring Beauties Art Journal

Finally we had a little sunshine and I was able to take photos (a lot of photos) of my spring beauties journal. I'l warn you there are a lot of photos, but I wanted to be able to show you as many details as I could. 

Inspired by spring, I grabbed all sorts of my favorite materials and spent two wonderful days playing away. I used vintage wallpaper, hankies, lace, millinery, and more. -You know all of our favorite things. :)

I used vintage ephemera and charms from my Jolis Oiseaux kit. 

(I meant to go back and add a little glitter to the centers of those flowers, so please pretend that you see old silver glitter there, ok?) 

Normally, I would have sewn my book together, but I was at the lake, and decided just to use my adhesives. I think sewing would have added a nice texture to the pages, though. And I do still plan to sew the pages together, but kept the pages separate for photographing. 

I enjoyed making this book so much, I decided to turn it into a kit. You can read more about the details and order the kit here.  The kit will come with all of the materials to make this art journal, as well as extras so that you can make it your own. I am taking orders on the kit until Monday, April 23rd, and they will ship just a couple of days later. Once the kits have shipped, a full color pdf tutorial will be emailed to you explaining how to construct and embellish your journal as well as helpful hints and tips.

Washi Tape

Hello! It's raining here so I was unable to get any photos of my Spring Beauties book. Hopefully tomorrow! But I wanted to let you know that I have marked the Washi tape on sale 25% off! (scrapbook papers and other things are on sale as well) I was taking a look around pinterest and found several cute ideas of how to use washi tape and thought I would share.

Oh, Martha!

The first peony

Hello! Just popping in to share a photo of my Mom's first peony of the year. Always my favorite flower, she surprised me with her very first bloom of the season. Isn't it gorgeous? 

It's a little early as usually they're blooming in May in this area, but we hardly had a winter this year and everything is in full bloom already. Mom said her pale pink peonies were just about to bloom as well, I can't wait to have some of those! :)

I really need to plant some of my own peonies, but I'm worried I will end up killing them as my thumb is definitely not green. ha. But I certainly would love to have a yard full of these lovelies.

Pretty Party

Hello! Just popping in to let you know that the adorable new line "Pretty Party" from Crate Paper is in the shop. I think this was one of the cutest lines of paper and embellishments released at this years CHA. 

I added the 6"x6" paper pads, the chipboard embellishments, and the super cute buttons to the shop today. 

Also just in are two of Amy Tangerine's daybooks. I love these! They're perfect for keeping in your purse and using as an art journal or scrapbook. 

Also, I have restocked several of the items that sold out last week. 

We are headed to the lake for this wonderful Easter weekend. The whole family is going. Kenz came home from college, Trin has her camper set up, and we're camping in our new camper. We'll be celebrating one of my niece's 8th birthday, and my dad's birthday as well as Easter, of course. I'm so excited!
