Hello! I've been traveling and shopping the Hwy127 sale this week, also known as the world's longest yard sale. I've blogged about this before, but basically it is a 600+ mile long event that takes place every August and runs along hwy127. It's yard sales, antiques, junk, and junque. I go almost every year, and have been doing so for about 20 years now. It's really a lot of fun, and I usually find some great things. The only thing that could be better was if it was in the spring or fall rather than in August when the heat is fierce here in the south.
Anyway, I wanted to share with you a few sights and a few of my finds so far. The above booth is just stunning. The lady's sell lacey clothing, and the props and such are just gorgeous. Most sellers do not set up like this at the 127sale, but I love it when they do! She even has a dressing room in a vintage pink shasta camper! Gah. It's just so cute! I took this photo on our first day out, and was under the impression that none of her props were for sale, including that wonderful pink, vintage chair.
Then next day however, I stopped by again, as she had some different things sitting out front. I ended up buying several things from her, and as I was paying, I mentioned how much I loved the chair and wished it was for sale.
Turns out, it was my lucky day. That sweet chair WAS for sale, and after a bit of bargaining, she was mine for just $60! I'm telling you, I practically bounced back to the car with it, even in the 87 degree heat! (not sure why it looks more lavender in this photo, but it really is more peachy pink like it looks in the previous photo) My husband who is such a trooper, carried it over to an empty spot in the campground we are staying at so I could take a photo. ha. I am sure everyone thought we were both a bit on the odd side.
We have seen all kinds of stuff so far. These vintage blue jars have been pretty plentiful. I snapped this pic just because I thought they were all so pretty lined up in the sunshine. I didn't buy any though, as I have several at home already.
And here are a few of my finds from the first day out.
The first day seemed to be the day of the vintage linens and lace.So many great deals! (and so many pretty things!)
I love old button cards, and rarely turn away from them if they're well priced, but I seem to especially love the ones with missing buttons. I guess because you know at some point, someone used some of those buttons, and saved the rest for another day. Of course, their illustrations get me every time too!
This isn't even all of the vintage and anitque laces I have found!
I'll share more of my finds and sights from the road in a day or so, but in the mean time, don't forget that you can save 20% off your entire order while we're out hunting and picking this week. Just click right here and you'll find everything marked 20% off, including items already on sale!
If any of you are also hunting for treasures this week on hwy 127, please be sure and leave a link below. I love seeing what everyone else is finding.
