I have to share this wonderful shop in Bethesda, MD called Accessories of Old! I have "known" Andrew (the shop owner for a while now, but we met in person when I visited his shop this week! It is such a darling shop, and is filled to the brim with the most wonderful vintage trims, buttons, ribbons, laces, etc, etc!
Andrew and his wife Lisa are from South Africa, where her Grandfather owned a wonderful retail shop offering all of these fine trims and notions. The business has been closed for a number of years, and all of this fabulous inventory was stored away and then relocated here!
Everything except the gift selection is vintage in the shop, all wrapped on their original cards, and many of them never opened! Are you dieing here? Look at the buttons!!
All of the buttons are on their original cards, and just gorgeous! They have plastics and glass and every other type of old button! Many of the cards are just as wonderful as the buttons!
Oh, and then the sequins! Oh my! The sequins are all vintage too, and most were from France.
I could show you a million photos, but I don't want to drive you into a frenzy of "gotta have this stuff now!".
Andrew is was a hoot to talk to, and I enjoyed my time in their gorgeous shop very much! Hopefully next time I will get to meet his Lisa. If you're in the area, it's a must stop! As an added bonus, you may just get to see some of this wonderful stuff in a little shop closer to home very soon! :0) (more on that later this week)
Now, on to your Show & Tell topic for June 1st. (is it really June already?!) Since we have been showing all of our treasures for a while now, and since I am going to be working hard on my studio this weekend, and because some of you have requested it, it's time to show us how you store this stuff!! Show us how and where you store your treasures, whether it's in your studio, or craft room, or just in your hall closet. They can be vintage, or just a really creative way you store your lovelies, but we want to see. Sound fun? You might have to work on your studios a bit this week too. :0)
Leave me a note if you'll be playing along!
Much love, Cerri xoxo
