Making ornaments

Hello! I hope you had a lovely weekend! I missed my pretty, old things post this week, but we were celebrating my daughter's 19th birthday all weekend, plus I've been crazy swamped. (like the rest of you, I'm sure!) But, I did play with some pretty, old lace and trims, combined with some super cheap snowflake ornaments from Target, and this is what I came up with. A Frosty Little Christmas

Hello! This sweet little kit is my offerings for Joli Paquet this season. Lots of little vintage pieces used here, and the best thing is, you can decide if you want your little frosty Christmas scene to be an ornament, or to sit on the stand in one of your Christmas vignettes! (all pieces are included)

I basically couldn't make up my mind how I liked it, so I decided to just leave it up to you and include all of the parts. :) The tiny church is vintage and will arive to you in it's original colors, you could leave it like it is, or paint it however you would like.

The litttle plastic flowers are also vintage, and tiny deer is a vintage reproduction. You will receive everything you need to create this sweet little scene except your paints and glue.

This is my 4th kit this season, and probably the last one for the year. -I say probably because I really did have an idea for one more, but I'm just not sure if I have the energy to put together one more kit. LOL

This sweet little kit will be available tomorrow morning in my shop. And, don't worry, if you already have an order waiting to go out I'll be happy to just add it to that order. (speaking of orders, I'm working as fast as I possibly can to get all orders out in a timely manner)

More pretty postcards for you!

Hello! Happy Wednesday! I hope you're having a lovely week so far. I'm sharing some more vintage postcards today, I hope you will enjoy them.

If the image is cute off some, just click on it and you'll get the whole image. If you would like to use any of these, just click on the image, right click, and then save to your computer. Print them out and use them any way that you would like! (yep, even to sell with your handmade items)

I only ask that you do not sell the images themselves please. Love this one, I don't know if you can tell, but it's actually embossed and the roses have a texture to them. Very pretty. I have a lot of them like this.

Gothic Romance, a petite theater

Hello! I'm pretty excited about my Halloween kit for Joli Paquet this year. I've had the idea of a tiny theater in my mind for quite some time, and this seemed like the time to give it a try. In my mind, the hauntingly beautiful lady on the cover is Emile, and Emile is remembering the past, of days of romance gone by. Her heart aches at the memories and longing of a once marvelous romance. To capture that memory forever I created a theater scene in which Emile is remembering a special evening with her beloved. Because the 'memory scene' was created inside of a large matchbox, it has the ability of being "tucked away" and carried with Emile always.

Of courese, you can create your story your way, but I will provide all of the elements and instructions on how to create this lovely petite theater.

Edible Mother's day place settings...

Hello! Just wanted to pop in and let you know that my daughter and I did a tutorial on Joli Paquet this week for to create these wonderful cameo boxes made of chocolate or candy melts!

You can fill the boxes with mints or other small candy, and either use them at your Mother's day events or to give as little gifts!

Nesting inspiration boxes received

Hello! I hope you have been enjoying a lovely spring weekend! I recently participated in Heather's Petite Inspiration box swap and wanted to share with you the boxes I received. First up is from Melissa.

She sent lots of lovely things to create with!

Next I received a lovely box from the very sweet Julie.

I love this teeny tiny nest she included with the posies and rhinestones on it!

And lastly, this box came from the lovely Sarah.

Missing from the photos of the things Sarah sent was a little pink seashell with a gorgeous pearls inside. 

I also wanted to take a moment and mention Joli Paquet, if you're looking for some wonderful craft inspiration, there are some great tutorials being posted there and they will continue through May!

This gorgeous cuff bracelet was a recent tutorial from our spring guest artist Heidi! Isn't it lovely? It's on my list of things to do, as are some of the other wonderful projects being posted there. I hope you will visit, and let the ladies know if you love their projects. :)

A peek and other stuff

First, let me say thank you so much for your sweet comments and well wishes to my daughter. It is such an exciting time in her life! She actually received a phone call today from another college informing her of the acceptance letter that is on it's way and a hint at a scholarship there as well. It appears that the assistant Dean was quite impressed with her essay and illustrations. So, it's not just her Momma that thinks she's super talented. :) I think she's been lurking and reading your comments, so thank you a million times!

Above is a little peek at one of the things I have been working on for the spring update that is scheduled for Friday. I have several things in the works including a new kit, a new play pack (that is turning out to be one of my favorite packs I've ever put together), a tiny tag kit, and lots of new vintage papers and such. I had a list a mile long, but I'm not sure all of that will happen in time, we'll see. You know how it is, more ideas than time.

 

This is just a little tiny part of the new play packs. I'm loving the COLORS. Color is making me happy at the moment. 

In other news there is lots happening on Joli Paquet this week! We kicked off our spring event, Brandy had a tutorial yesterday and Jeanne is up tomorrow. We also announced the new guest artist spots over there today. You might want to take a look.

Popping in with a few projects....

Hello everyone! I'm just popping in to show you what I have been up to. First, today on Joli Paquet I did a tutorial for this little wall hanging or ornament using an antique photo mat and lots of fun things.

I hope you will stop by and do some crafting with me! And if you're interested, I was able to put together a hand full of kits for this project as well. It was a lot of fun to put together.

I've been telling you that I have been playing around with the angel and cherub embellishments and wanted to show you a few things I have come up with. 

First, I just added glitter to the wings and I think they are ok like that especially if you are wanting an all white look. I would like to try staining them a bit though and then adding glitter, just so they are not quite so bright white. For the pink angel I did one coat of craft paint in a bubblegum pink and then I added a second layer of latex (house paint) in a pale taupe-ish pink.

I was pretty happy with how that turned out.

The next one I added some fairy dust glitter and then used some glimmer mist over that. (which gave it a little bit of an aged look. I decided to turn this one into an ornament by making a pinwheel out of vintage sheet music and gluing it all to a bottle brush ornament I had from a couple of years ago. Finished if off by adding some pink pearl beads.

The next one is my favorite I think. I started with some aqua colored paint, added some white crackle paint over the top, and once that dried I added some iridescent gold Glimmer Mist which shows up nicely in the cracks.

I made a simple and pretty tea stained tag just by adding my angel, and topping it off with some pretty silk ribbon.

I've also been making some presents and simple but pretty gift bags that I can't wait to show you as well. I'll be back soon with those.
