So, Miss Analise wants to see our buttons and is hosting a little show and tell party on her blog. I used to have a whole lot more vintage buttons than I do now, but I have used so many of them in vintage button rings and of course packaging up these little beauties for you! But, on with the show!
Most of my colored buttons are kept here, in this old chocolate box that I adore. I always wonder why we don't have such beautiful boxes and cards and trims and even buttons as they used to? I mean, chocolate boxes are NOTHING like they used to be! I will have to show you my collection of vintage chocolate boxes! I really love them! But, that will have to wait for another time, back to the buttons!
Here is a close up shot of all those buttons! Aren't they fun?!
The tins have buttons from French General and also my collection of tiny baby doll buttons. (I don't want them getting lost in the crowd)
My most favorite buttons though? The ones with rhinestones in them! oooh, how I love old rhinestones and buttons! It's an intense love really!
Most of the rhinestone buttons are stored in my vintage jewelry boxes. I will show you those another day too!
I do have one set of buttons I am quite curious about though. I found this baggie of old metal buttons at an antique shop, but I really can't picture what they would have been used for? Any ideas? They are fun, and prettier than the photo shows, but just not sure what kind of garment they would have been used for? I'm thinking they would be darling dangling from a bracelet now though! :0)
Another of my favorite button-y type things is this wonderful salesman's card I found! This has all of the original button samples attached minus one. It's so fun! I plan to hang it on a wall in my office as soon as we get that room painted!
Now, Miss Analise shared some button washing tips with you all, and that is how I used to do it too. But I'll let you in on a little secret. Now, I fill a bowl full of warm sudsy water and pour my new old buttons in it, and let them soak. The little beauties like to bathe overnight usually. Then I pour them into the a strainer and rinse them very well, lay them out on a paper towel to dry and they look good as new! No more scrubbing involved. :0)
Ok, off to check out the other gals playing button show and tell today, but then, it's back to work for me! I am desperately trying to get my studio organized once and for all!!
Much love, Cerri xo
~lol~

Hi! I love your colorful collection of buttons and I have to admit I am a bit jealous of your rhine stone buttons, but then English isn't my native speeck (lol)!
I totally agree with you regarding chocolate boxes and why everything has to change to be less than it was. I love to see those boxes too, I'm a boxjunk as well.
