Ok, so I'm feeling like the biggest ding a ling in the world, but I just could not figure out the photos on blogger, so I'm moving my little tutorial over here. (I always was more comfortable at home) :0)
Ever since my girls were little one of my favorite parts of the holidays was doing all sorts of arts and crafts projects to decorate our home with. I wanted to do something a little different for my Joli Paquet tutorial and show you a couple of quick, easy, and fun things you can do with your littles during this holiday season. (or really, you know you want to play with pom poms and beads to, don't you?) So I thought we would make some pom pom wreaths and garlands, ok?
Gather your supplies: You'll need the following items from the craft store.
Approximately 2 large bags of pompoms. My bags came with all different colors, but we wanted only the pink, red, and white. Sort out the colors you want to use.
Plastic star shaped beads. Both the pompoms and the beads can be found in the kids crafting section of most any craft store.
You'll also need a foam brush, scissors, large needle, very strong thread, 3 paper plates and "The Ultimate" craft glue. This glue is a staple in our home. It takes the place of hot glue for me, it will hold anything, sets up quickly and doesn't burn little fingers. (or big ones)
I glued 2 of the paper plates together to make them sturdier as this will be the base of our wreath.Cut out the middles of your plates and pour out a large "blob" of the Ultimate glue on the extra paper plate.
To make your wreath then, all you do is dip those pompoms in the glue and stick them to your paper wreath! You can layer them so that it add a little more depth, and stick a sparkley pompom in there every so often to add some fun sparkle. When you're finished adding pompoms you may want to add a ribbon to hang it from. Simple, right?
This is the wreath my sweet niece and I made. I love these colors!
And this is the much more colorful wreath my nephew and I made. He was 4 when we did this one, so you can see you really can do this will children of any age.
To make your garland, you'll need to sort your pompoms and stars again for the colors you want to use. Thread a large needle with super strong thread and simply push the needle through your pompoms and beads. Just keep going for as long as you want your garland to be! I find that this part was fun to do while just sitting and watching a Christmas movie.
That's it! I have to be honest, when I was recreating these projects for you I was loving making the garland myself, LOL. I plan on making it long enough to hang in my studio and adding these little cuties I found at an antique shop.
I will show you when I get that finished! I hope you will give this a try with your littles, and if you do, will you post it in the Joli Paquet flickr group please? I would love to see!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial today. I know it's a little different, but I really cherish doing projects with my children and my niece and nephew and I think it's creating memories they will cherish as well. And isn't that what the holidays are about after all?
Much love, Cerri xo

Cerri - this wreath is adorable. I used to love those little pom poms when I was a kid. I remember making bumble bees with them. No little kids here either, but there's no rule that says grown ups can't give this a try too, right?

Cerri, this is an awesome idea! I plan to save for when my little one is a little older next year (she'll be over 2 by then). I love it and will look adorable in her room for decoration! We put up a white feather wreath this year she likes the texture. Thanks so much!

This is so cute. I can't wait to share this idea. By the way when you are on the post for Blogger, you need to go into the HTML tab in order to move you photos around. Once you are there you can just copy and paste. The new version of Blogger allows you to view how your post will look. Hope this helps for next time, although I did enjoy seeing your beautiful blog. Cerri, that was totally cute! I've seen it done with jingle bells and with glass ball ornaments, but I've never seen or thought of using pom-poms and beads. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. xxoo
