Thought I'd share with you some of the other things I made for the swap I told you about with this gal. I made her a few little books. This one I made with vintage wallpaper as the base. It's an old vinyl wallpaper and it sews just like fabric! Love that. I embellished the front with some dyed paper doilies that were decorated with a sweet stitch and a photocopy of one of my vintage southern belles.
You can see a little closer here, the photocopy of the embroidered southern belle looks just like the real thing.
Inside the book I made a pocket to hold all sorts of paper crafting basics that she might use in the book, and I made pages for the book with doilies, fabric, cardstock, and canvas. My thinking was that she could sew, cut, paste, glitter, paint, whatever she would like inside the book. The pocket is also embellished with a photocopy of vintage embroidery.
I made a couple of teeny envelope books inspired by Julie's. The pink book is made from a vintage envelope and the blue one is made from a little stationery set I purchased at Home Goods.
Inside the books I made little pages from various vintage ephemera and paper doilies, and filled the pockets with other items she may want to use in her books.
I love making books, and have a million ideas for making more books. (just need the time to do that) This little book even has pocket pages with tags that slide in. Apparently, I didn't get a photo of that, but you get the idea.
Besides books and crowns, I also included several pretty vintage fabric bundles, seam binding ruffles, and paper pockets and tags that I have shown you before, but I'll show you again now.
The paper pockets were filled with things like vintage images for her to use, butterfly punches made from vintage papers, and copies of paper doll dresses that she might use in her paper crafting. I think she loved it all, and I was happy to put it all together for her. It was my few snippets of creativity over a summer that mostly revolved around my daughter going to college and website redesign.
Speaking of website redesign, I need to get back to work, but I'll be back to show you more fun things soon!
xoxo, Cerri
