Hello! Frankly, I can hardly believe it is fall, and even more so that it was in the 30 degree temps here last night. The weather is early for us in TN, but it really just seems as if the summer was gone in just a blink of an eye!
I keep wanting to get here more often, I really do. But it seems that I am just so busy these days, and with the invention of instagram, it's made me a bit of a lazy blogger. Ha. I seem to share there the every day happenings of both life and shop much more than I do here.
The above photo is of a little lace pumpkin I created last year, and you can find a brief "how to" for it here. Just thought I would share that again in case you were wanting a little fall-ish inspiration.
Now, let's play a little catch up, shall we? (all photos taken through the lens of my phone)
October is filled with birthdays in our family! My sweet Grandma turned 88 (!), my niece turned 13, and my own baby girl turned 20! I haven't had a chance to celebrate with my Gram yet as she has been sick, and my niece is coming to visit this weekend to celebrate with me. For Trin's birthday we went on our last camping trip of the year, and it was really lovely. A wonderful weekend filled with fun family memories.
Her dad and I also sent her on sort of scavenger hunt day of pampering for her special birthday. We had each location in numbered envelopes with an address to enter in her gps. We sent her to the nail salon, the hair salon, for a bit of shopping with Mom, to pick out a new phone with Dad, and then finally to dinner with family and boyfriend. It was a really fun way to spoil her. I have always loved making birthdays a really big deal for my girls. I am sure I will continue to do that no matter how old they get, as I love to celebrate their lives and the day they were born.
At the beginning of the month, I participated in my very first "craft" sale. It was actually an event called "Handmade and Bound" and was all about celebrating handmade books, zines, printing, and other types of book arts. Since I have been all about making books the past year or two, when my oldest daughter asked me to do this with her, I decided, "why not?". And although I knew I was going to do this a month in advance, I ended up putting everything together in the last week! Yep, I really did that. Not only that, but it was also in the middle of putting together Doll House Kits, and September's Little Pink Box! I pulled a few "all nighters" (which by the way, I think I'm getting a little too old for) and it was non stop go get 'em. So you might understand that I only have two photos to show for the entire thing. Yes, you read that right. I took TWO photos. No photos of my table, no photos of my set ups, no photos of my daughter's table, or her adorable products. Just a peek at the hankie journal kits I put together above, and the few "instagram" junk journals left over below.
Having never done this before, I didn't really know what to expect, or what to include, etc...But it turned out quite well, and both my daughter and I found it to be quite successful. I was really just so thrilled for her. She hasn't updated her shop or blog with all of the absolutely adorable products she made, but she was a total success. She just killed it. She did not make books, but she made book related art. She used her illustrations to create book marks, book plates, prints, and more. She also made a little zine that I think sold out completely. I was SO proud of her! I honestly didn't even care as much about what I was selling it was just such a joy to watch my daughter and see all of the reactions of people to her art work. I've always known how super talented she is, and I was certainly filled with pride watching her sell her work like crazy. I do wish we had more photos to share, but I think my daughter and I will be doing more shows together. :)
My plan was to put the extra things I made into the shop, and I will get to that, but honestly, I haven't even unpacked it yet!
Since then, other than a short weekend break to help Kenz with recuperating from a medical problem, I have been doing serious planning, making, and gathering for the Little Pink Studio's holidays! (and of course planning October, November, and December's Little Pink Boxes!)
I have some fun, and different plans for this year that I hope to be sharing with you very soon!
So, I think that's it, a little recapture of the happenings around here. What have you been up to? Are you even thinking of the holidays yet?
Oh, and as a side note, along the way I forgot to mention to you that while The Doll House kits sold out quickly, I have made that project into a tutorial. The tutorial contains a 16 page pdf of instructions, over 21 images for you to print and use, and templates of how to create your own book. You can find that right here.
Back to work I go, there is so much to do. I really could use a couple of elves...
xo, Cerri
Your lace pumpkin turned out very beautiful Cerri!
I agree that Summer went by in a blink here too and I like fallish inspiration, although once that Halloween is over I'm slowly but surely turning to Winter and Christmas inspirations. I'm glad we have no Thanks Giving inbetween here because by then I'll be already all in the Christmas swing.
Sending Happy Birthday wishes to your Gran and family and Happy Halloween wishes for next week!

Cerri, do you have any of the hankie journals left? I looked in your shop and didn't find them, so I am assuming they are all sold out, but they look adorable!!!

Hi, Kate!
I do have lots of hankie journal kits left, in fact, I haven’t even listed them yet. I will email you!
